Shine On DSP and the Stampin' Up! Envelope Punch Board

I love the Shine On DSP - it's a heavier weight and great for lovely envelopes.  I have a friend whose kids love collecting the cards that Woolies offers with a grocery shop.

Using the Envelope Punch Board I was able to make an envelope the perfect size...and add some pretend stamps.

Good fun and makes it all a bit more special.

A feel good morning

This morning was great fun and very rewarding.  I held a Helping the Hospital session at my home with seven ladies attending.  I had materials ready for them to cut, fold and emboss to make card kits for John Flynn to use in the rehabilitation of their patients.

First some action shots.  Allison got so busy her scissors were a blurr.  She and Jan used a bunch of scrapbooking paper donated to the hospital to make kits in cello bags for kids in hospital to assemble.

Marlene is sorting the cards into sets of two.

Carol-Ann and her daughter Teryn are hard at work on one of the boxed kits.
The kits packed and ready with the card design stuck on the lid.

Our cello bag kits, just need to add some instructions.
I'll be dropping these off at John Flynn in the next fortnight.  We'll be having more working bees later in the year to which anyone is welcome!

Thanks for stopping by!

Faux Tiling

Yesterday's class was Faux Tiling.  Feedback from the end of last year was that my customers wanted to learn some more techniques, so that's what we are going to do.

We made four cards using four different tiling techniques.

For this card, the white cardstock is scored then stamped on - this gives the effect of grouting lines through the picture. We are getting a lot of use out of this Butterfly Basics stamp set.

I grew up in an old Queenslander and used to lie in bed at night counting the pressed metal squares on the ceiling of my bedroom.  They were white/cream but this silver card still reminds me of those squares.

We used silver cardstock, run through an embossing folder then punched out with a 1" square punch.

Next was our patient card - we took our time sponging this carefully to achieve this tiled or quilted effect.  This card looks stunning in a darker colour but if you are a novice sponger, I recommend using a light colour till you get the hang of it.

Here is a bunch of cards made by the ladies at one table.  Good job hey?

And lastly was our clean and simple kitchen tile.  This was made using the Awesomely Artistic stamp set.  This is another of those sets where you can build image over image, but we kept this simple.

The dragonfly 'tile' is made using clear embossing powder.  We covered the square with Versamark ink then clear embossing powder which we heat set.  Once cooled we repeated the process twice more to create a think 'glaze'.  Can you see it looking a little shiney in the pic below?

If you would like to come along to my classes, they are held at my house in Burleigh Waters on the Gold Coast.  Email me at if you would like to be on my mailing list.

Bloomin' Heart Thinlits much more than a heart!

Now that Valentine's Day has passed, hearts have disappeared from the shops and hot cross buns have taken over.  I wanted to show you the versatility of the Bloomin' Hearts Thinlit die.

We used it at our catalogue launch to make a traditional heart card.  This is such a beautifully intricate thinlit.

But if you think outside the heart (he he) there are other beautiful designs to be made!! This one uses the Bold Butterfly Framelits with the Bloomin' Heart behind.

Or cut out a hole to make a colourful balloon.

Or use the circle idea and put some sparkle behind it!  Some silver ribbon and glimmer paper make this pop against the black!

If you can find ways to stretch your products for a variety of uses, it makes for better value.

CASEing the CEO

As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator I have access to so many resources online where fellow demonstrators share their creations.

Shelli Gardner, the CEO of Stampin' Up! recently shared a wedding card which she created and I CASEd it for a birthday card.  I fiddled around with colours but ended up choosing the same colour combo as Shelli.

And of course, I added numbers.

Supplies are listed below!  Come back tomorrow and I will show you another variation.  You can check out Shelli's card HERE.

Launch Love

On Saturday January 30th  I had a great day holding my launch of the Stampin' Up! Occasions and Sale-a-Bration Catalogues. 27 ladies came along to check out new products and have a play.

We had five make and takes.

I always clear off my bookshelf and have a display.  Thanks Ang and Maree for your contributions.

We revisited the Envelope Punch Board using the Shine On DSP.  Loved this DSP - it's cardstock weight and its colours are very vivid.

Playing with the new Big Shot Die Brush - perfect for the Love Blossoms Thinlit.

Make and take using the Balloon Celebration stamp set.

I tuck people into every nook and cranny in my house.  This is just inside my front door.  Keep working ladies!!

And out on the front deck - one of the cooler places to be.  It was a HOT day.

As usual we had a raffle both morning and afternoon.  We raised a total of $182 which will go to the children's ward of the Gold Coast Hospital.
And take a look at this delivery.....  Here is a bunch of products I have ordered with some of the money raised from our Christmas Charity Workshop in November.

This will be used to another Footprint Card box and three card making kits for John Flynn Hospital.  A workshop coming soon where YOUR help is needed.

And the good thing about ordering all these goodies now??  We get SAB benefits!  Some FREE stamp sets which will become lucky door prizes and raffle prizes at our next CCW plus some other freebees for the kits.

And look at this - my sister always comes down to give me a hand with my launch.  I have the whole lounge room and dining room set up for make and takes and displays, as well as outside on the deck - five locations in all.  My sister went around at the end and gathered everything, cleaned my stamps and put them away, grouped everything, cleaned up rubbish etc etc.
Here it is, all sorted and ready on the most out-of-the-way table for me to put away in my own time.  Isn't she a gem???

Don't forget that until the end of March, for every $90 you order you will get a FREE Sale-a-Bration item!
It's also a great time to JOIN!  For more info on that click HERE!

The Best Kit in the Catalogue and the new WInk of Stella Pens

Need a catalogue?  Click on the links to the left or contact me for a paper copy.

If you like Stampin' Up! and if you like free product, you can't go past the Starter Kit, especially during Sale-a-Bration.

It costs $169 to join and during Sale-a-Bration you get $295 worth of product!  That's $126 of goodies FREE!

Does joining sound scary?  I assure you it's not.  Here's some FAQs.

Q:  What do I get in my Starter Kit?
A:  Anything you want - make up a list of products you would like up to $295 from the Annual and Occasions Catalogues.  You pay $169.  A great way to get a HUGE discount!

Q:  What happens after that?
A:  A brown box of fun stuff will arrive at your door about a week later.  And then you start playing.

Q:  Do I have to sell a lot of products?
A:  Many people sign up as Hobby Demonstrators - i.e. for the discount.  That's why I signed up originally.  You can purchase for yourself  and sell to friends and family.  As little or as much as you like.  If you want to try to sell more widely that's up to you.  You can try running classes or parties if you want.

Q:  What happens if I don't sell anything?
A:  Nothing:  there are no penalties for dropping.  You will have till the end of June to enjoy a discount.  If you buy/sell enough, you will then be an active demonstrator for the next quarter.  If you don't purchase or sell anything more, that's fine.

Q:  Why join?
A:  Cardmaking and scrapbooking is one of the best hobbies in the world!  By signing up to Stampin' Up! you become part of generous family of like minded people.  For me, it's my job and I have made so many friends and had so many wonderful experiences! I would love you to join my team!

Bursting to sign up?  Give me a call or email OR go straight to the site using this link to join under me.

Thanks for stopping by!  And to reward you for reading through all of that, here's a video to watch while you think about all the things you would like to buy!!  I love these new Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Pens.  Something to put in your Starter Kit perhaps?
